My Experience on the Vilassar Route

We were emerging from the pandemic, and safety measures were slowly being relaxed. Both inside our taxis and outside of them, we adhered to anti-COVID safety norms to ensure the safety of anyone who wanted to use our vehicles.

In the afternoon, I received a call from a young woman who was using hands-free so her partner could also hear the conversation. She sounded very determined and knew what she wanted to tell me but wasn’t sure if we provided that kind of service: taking them to their wedding.

I replied that, of course, I could take them on their wedding day in one of our taxis, whichever they liked best, as once the vehicle was reserved, it would be at their disposal for the hours they booked it. She sounded very excited, and I could hear her partner celebrating in the background. These were difficult times; for them, their joy at that moment was in gradually checking off their to-do list, and it seemed that the vehicle issue was resolved. I grabbed a notebook nearby to jot down all the important details she was about to share with me:

  • Five guests, including both the godfather and the godmother.
  • Only one child, a one-year-old, so they needed a safety seat.
  • They wanted to reserve two cars: a Mercedes Benz Vito for the guests and a Tesla Model S for the couple.
  • The day before, they would give me a box of flowers to decorate the door handles of both vehicles.
  • The reservation would be from nine in the morning until five in the afternoon, as they were only having a family lunch without much more celebration.
  • Once dropped off at the restaurant at twelve, the Tesla Model S taxi could leave since the return trip to their homes would be in the Mercedes Benz Vito, which comfortably fit the eight passengers.

I noted everything down, marked the date, and congratulated them on such a beautiful decision. The day before the wedding, we met as planned so they could give me the flowers. A young couple approached my taxi, wearing masks, so I could only see their eyes. They looked happy. Inside a box, they gave me eight small bouquets of white and pink flowers.

Both my colleague and I got up very early that morning. We wanted to make the cars perfect and tie the bouquets to the doors. We put on shirts and jackets to provide better service on such an important and unique day for the couple. We first went to pick up the guests from the indicated location. They were all in a group waiting; in a man’s arms was a small child who we seated in the safety seat.

We got up very early that morning. We wanted to make the cars perfect and tie the bouquets to the doors.

I headed to the Vilassar Town Hall. The passengers, wedding guests, slowly exited the vehicle and lined up to enter the Town Hall to take their seats and wait for the couple. In truth, they didn’t take long to arrive. I saw my colleague arrive in his white Tesla adorned with flowers, parking right at the entrance. First, the groom got out, spending a few seconds buttoning his jacket properly, and then, with my colleague’s help, the bride emerged, beautiful in white.

We stayed outside, talking and waiting for the ceremony to end. Afterward, we saw them take many photos to remember the moment forever, and they asked to take pictures with our vehicles, which were specially decorated for the occasion.

The photo session was long, but we waited patiently in our vehicles so as not to interrupt any moment of the couple or the family. Once the session ended, we took them to the requested restaurant. I dropped them off as close to the entrance as possible. My colleague turned his taxi around and waved goodbye. I watched him leave, as his reservation for the wedding had ended.

It was a different but very beautiful and unique celebration. The return to the homes was filled with laughter, conversations, and a few songs to liven up the journey. As I said, we had emerged from a very difficult and tragic time for many families, so I’m glad to share this experience of how I was able to help make a couple happy simply by taking them to get married.
