My Personal Experience on the Parc Güell Route

It was a busy June morning. I had already dropped off several clients, and after leaving the last passenger at their destination, I turned the taxi back into traffic and received a new call. This time it was about a bus that had broken down, and apparently, the replacement bus was going to take a long time to arrive.

http://Park%20Güell

When I arrived at the location, I saw two more taxis in front of me picking up teenagers getting off the bus to take them to Parc Güell. I thought it would be an interesting story to tell, as it’s not every day you go on a class trip in several taxis.

The police were managing the traffic to ensure the taxis could merge without any issues, and the bus driver was on the side talking on his mobile phone. He looked quite upset about the situation; he probably wasn’t hearing what he wanted to.

Finally, it was my turn, and eight young people got into my Mercedes Benz Vito. They were laughing, finding the situation amusing, and barely paid any attention to me during the trip. They were talking about their own things and mostly laughing. Upon arriving at Parc Güell, the same scene we had seen before unfolded: several taxis dropping off the young people as close as possible to ensure their safety.

I often make trips to Isla Fantasía, where I usually take families and groups of young people, so I’m very accustomed to loud conversations and laughter in the taxi. It’s nice to see people so happy, so I try not to interrupt and just do my job, which is to get them to their destination as quickly and safely as possible.

When it was my turn, they got out, said goodbye, and quickly joined the rest of their classmates and teachers, who were doing a headcount to ensure all twenty students had arrived.

I stood there for a moment, observing the scene, until my phone rang again, reminding me that I had to get back to work. A woman who had suffered a stroke urgently needed to be taken to the hospital. Her husband, a long-time client of ours who I have great affection for, called me. I suggested he call an ambulance, but he insisted I come quickly and not argue.

In that situation, I started the vehicle and contacted my colleagues to see if any of them were closer to the lady than I was, but everyone was quite far from the area, and one even had his vehicle reserved for a tourist route. So, given the situation, I had to focus and think about how to get there as quickly as possible.

In that situation, I started the vehicle and contacted my colleagues to see if any of them were closer

When I arrived, obviously, no one was waiting on the street. I assumed they were still inside, so I took my phone and called back to let them know I was downstairs. Mr. Josep, who I’ve known for many years, as I mentioned, asked me to come up and help him bring his wife down, who was in a wheelchair. So, I went to the door, they quickly let me in, I pressed the elevator button to go up to the fourth floor, and rang the doorbell several times until Mr. Josep opened. I could see the great concern on his face, understandably.

I entered the apartment with prior permission and went to the living room. There was Mr. Josep, pacing around looking for both his wallet and his wife’s bag. Right next to the sofa was Mrs. Carme, serious, not saying a word, but breathing normally, which reassured me. As I headed toward the door with Mrs. Carme, I noticed the keys, wallet, and bag on a small piece of furniture.

“They’re here, Josep!” He quickly came over, grabbed everything, stuffed it into his pants pockets, and slung the bag over one shoulder.

They took the elevator while I ran down the stairs. I don’t have extensive medical knowledge, but I’m very aware that every second counts during a stroke. So, I helped them out of the building and we headed to the taxi parked nearby. We helped Mrs. Carme into the car, folded the wheelchair, and put it in the trunk. Mr. Josep, worried, held his wife’s hand and repeatedly assured her everything would be fine. It was the first time something like this had happened to him. The hospital wasn’t far from their home.

We arrived, and I quickly went to inform the staff of the situation. Several orderlies came out to help Mrs. Carme into a wheelchair. Mr. Josep followed closely behind.

I sat in the taxi, received a call from a colleague asking if I had arrived at the hospital. I explained the crazy day I was having, started the car, and continued with the remaining services for the day, which were much calmer.

A few days later, I called Josep. He was glad to hear my voice. I didn’t even need to ask; he quickly explained that his wife was doing much better, though the scare hadn’t left him yet.

It’s an experience that makes me happy because many things happened on the same day, and everything was resolved satisfactorily, which is what counts in the end. We love being able to take people to their destinations in our taxis.

[pageArticle] Vilassar

My Experience on the Vilassar Route

We were emerging from the pandemic, and safety measures were slowly being relaxed. Both inside our taxis and outside of them, we adhered to anti-COVID safety norms to ensure the safety of anyone who wanted to use our vehicles.

In the afternoon, I received a call from a young woman who was using hands-free so her partner could also hear the conversation. She sounded very determined and knew what she wanted to tell me but wasn’t sure if we provided that kind of service: taking them to their wedding.

I replied that, of course, I could take them on their wedding day in one of our taxis, whichever they liked best, as once the vehicle was reserved, it would be at their disposal for the hours they booked it. She sounded very excited, and I could hear her partner celebrating in the background. These were difficult times; for them, their joy at that moment was in gradually checking off their to-do list, and it seemed that the vehicle issue was resolved. I grabbed a notebook nearby to jot down all the important details she was about to share with me:

  • Five guests, including both the godfather and the godmother.
  • Only one child, a one-year-old, so they needed a safety seat.
  • They wanted to reserve two cars: a Mercedes Benz Vito for the guests and a Tesla Model S for the couple.
  • The day before, they would give me a box of flowers to decorate the door handles of both vehicles.
  • The reservation would be from nine in the morning until five in the afternoon, as they were only having a family lunch without much more celebration.
  • Once dropped off at the restaurant at twelve, the Tesla Model S taxi could leave since the return trip to their homes would be in the Mercedes Benz Vito, which comfortably fit the eight passengers.

I noted everything down, marked the date, and congratulated them on such a beautiful decision. The day before the wedding, we met as planned so they could give me the flowers. A young couple approached my taxi, wearing masks, so I could only see their eyes. They looked happy. Inside a box, they gave me eight small bouquets of white and pink flowers.

Both my colleague and I got up very early that morning. We wanted to make the cars perfect and tie the bouquets to the doors. We put on shirts and jackets to provide better service on such an important and unique day for the couple. We first went to pick up the guests from the indicated location. They were all in a group waiting; in a man’s arms was a small child who we seated in the safety seat.

We got up very early that morning. We wanted to make the cars perfect and tie the bouquets to the doors.

I headed to the Vilassar Town Hall. The passengers, wedding guests, slowly exited the vehicle and lined up to enter the Town Hall to take their seats and wait for the couple. In truth, they didn’t take long to arrive. I saw my colleague arrive in his white Tesla adorned with flowers, parking right at the entrance. First, the groom got out, spending a few seconds buttoning his jacket properly, and then, with my colleague’s help, the bride emerged, beautiful in white.

We stayed outside, talking and waiting for the ceremony to end. Afterward, we saw them take many photos to remember the moment forever, and they asked to take pictures with our vehicles, which were specially decorated for the occasion.

The photo session was long, but we waited patiently in our vehicles so as not to interrupt any moment of the couple or the family. Once the session ended, we took them to the requested restaurant. I dropped them off as close to the entrance as possible. My colleague turned his taxi around and waved goodbye. I watched him leave, as his reservation for the wedding had ended.

It was a different but very beautiful and unique celebration. The return to the homes was filled with laughter, conversations, and a few songs to liven up the journey. As I said, we had emerged from a very difficult and tragic time for many families, so I’m glad to share this experience of how I was able to help make a couple happy simply by taking them to get married.

My Experience on the Route to the Hospital Sant Joan de Déu

I was returning to Vilassar after dropping off a client in Mataró. I enjoyed the trip because it was with someone who loved telling jokes and made me laugh more than once; he had a great way of telling them. I turned onto the street and received a call. The woman on the other end sounded very nervous and asked me to head to her street as quickly as possible because her sister had gone into labor, and although she thought she could handle it, she was too nervous to drive and take her to the hospital.

http://Hospital%20Sant%20Joan%20de%20Déu
http://Citadel%20Park
http://Premià%20Can%20Cisa
http://Premià%20Castelldaura

It took me just a few minutes to arrive. I found a pregnant woman bent forward, leaning against a car and screaming in pain. Another woman was running out of a building with a large bag in her hand and seemed nervous. She approached the pregnant woman, clearly wanting to help but not knowing how, so I parked the taxi as best I could and approached both women, ready to help in any way possible.

They explained that they needed to go to Hospital Sant Joan de Déu, but the contractions were getting stronger and her sister was struggling to get into the car. The young woman’s husband was working and, although they had informed him of what was happening, he had not yet arrived.

I moved my taxi right next to the young woman so she wouldn’t have to walk much. We helped her into the back seat. Her sister ran around the other side of the taxi and got in without hesitation. Before getting back into the taxi, I noticed they had left a large cloth bag on the ground. I figured it contained the things the pregnant woman would need at the hospital and that, amidst all the chaos, they had forgotten to grab it.

I put the bag in my vehicle’s trunk and confirmed with them again which hospital we were going to. I didn’t want to make a mistake and take them to a different one. They both nodded, and without further delay, I started the taxi.

I asked their names to create some closeness with my passengers. It was an intense moment, and I wanted to know them to help calm them. Their names were Marta and María. As the contractions returned, I heard Marta calling her brother-in-law to inform him that they were no longer at home, that a taxi driver had come by and was taking them to the hospital. She repeated several times that she was nervous and that her sister was having very frequent contractions. She asked him to get there as quickly as possible.

She hung up and, looking at me through the rearview mirror, told me he was already on his way to the hospital. Her sister screamed again. I took out a white handkerchief and waved it out the car window as I headed to the hospital as quickly as possible.

“Is this your first baby?” I asked to create some conversation and calm the nerves.

“Yes!” María shouted between contractions. I looked through the rearview mirror and saw her with her eyes closed, in pain, her head thrown back.

Her sister held her hand and tried to calm her by breathing deeply with her. The calm came when the contraction passed.

Marta explained that her sister had been having contractions for several hours. She had felt them in the morning, very spaced out, but didn’t think much of it because it was her first baby and they often say the first takes a long time to arrive. By mid-afternoon, she had informed her sister that the contractions were getting more intense, and since they lived close to each other, she went to her house so she wouldn’t be alone.

And there we were, living a movie-like moment. Even now, when I remember it, it’s hard to assimilate everything that happened in such a short time, and it’s been several years since it happened.

Even now, when I remember it, it’s hard to assimilate everything that happened in such a short time

We arrived at the hospital. It’s funny because it felt like one of the fastest trips I’ve ever made. Finally, I parked the car at the emergency entrance and saw a young man running towards us. It was the husband, who managed to arrive in time and came to help her out. I opened the taxi door, went to the trunk to get the bag, and gave it to the sister of the woman in labor.

In a few seconds, or so it seemed because everything was happening so quickly, I saw Marta enter the hospital and soon after come out accompanied by an orderly with a wheelchair. They all entered the hospital, the doors closed, and I got back in my taxi to continue, unable to avoid wishing them all the best.

The next day, I received a call. It was Marta, thanking me again and telling me everything went well, that both mother and baby were perfectly fine. I couldn’t help but feel happy for them. Since that day, we now have two clients who always contact us for any destination; they’re like family.

My Personal Experience on the Barcelona Route

One of the most important aspects of being a taxi driver is the closeness and communication we must have with our passengers. While they are in our taxi using our service, we like to show concern for them so that the journey is as pleasant as possible for each of our customers.

http://Sagrada%20Família%20(Holy%20Family)

Today, something happened that I would love to share: I took a family from Libya who were visiting Barcelona for the first time. It was clear that they were very happy with the trip, especially the three children traveling with the couple.

As can happen to all of us when visiting another country, despite our planning and efforts to do things right, they had booked the wrong hotel and ended up in one farther away than they had anticipated.

Immediately, I could see the concern on both the father’s and the mother’s faces, as they had not planned to stay so far from the city and needed a new place to stay, but they didn’t know where to start. Those of you who know Barcelona know that it is a very large city, with lots of people and many options. When you are offered so many possibilities, it is easy to feel overwhelmed and not know which is the best choice.

The children, unaware of the problem that had just arisen, continued happily looking out the taxi window at the tall buildings and streets crowded with cars.

I couldn’t just leave the family alone in Barcelona and change my sign to “Free” knowing that they didn’t know where to start their search for new accommodation, so once I had parked the taxi, I took out my phone and opened the translator.

I started writing in Spanish what I wanted to say to them, and the translator translated it so they could understand me. The first thing I wanted to convey was calm and that I would help them as much as possible until they found new accommodation.

Honestly, I don’t know if the translator was translating everything correctly, but I want to trust that it was, as the family seemed to understand me correctly.

I began to browse the various accommodation websites I knew, and soon I found some options that suited the couple, which encouraged me to call directly and speak in Spanish to facilitate and eliminate any language barriers.
